Hazardous Materials Removal for Various Schools in the Hawaii Department of Education

EnviroServices & Training Center (ETC) provides the State of Hawaii, Department of Education with the necessary environmental services to support the operations of public schools statewide. ETC conducts identification, sampling and analysis, packaging, transportation and disposal of various types of solid and hazardous waste throughout the school system. Additionally, we administer emergency spill response, post-cleanup soil and groundwater characterization, and air monitoring services to document cleanup/remediation efforts.

The majority of the work is performed for the science and trades departments. Thousands of unwanted hazardous materials are inventoried and categorized according to chemical compatibility and applicable ultimate treatment technologies. These hazardous materials are then packaged, labeled, and transported in accordance with Department of Transportation hazardous materials regulations to a disposal site.
